The Work of Coming Home

A 12-Week Psychoeducational & Process Group for Adults Living with Complex PTSD

Healing from complex trauma is not just about understanding what happened to you. It is about learning how to live differently in the present—with greater connection to yourself, more capacity to regulate your nervous system, and more choice in the moments when old survival responses take over.

The Work of Coming Home combines psychoeducation, practical skills, and facilitated group process. We will learn together, practice together, and create space to explore what it means to feel safer, more connected, and more fully yourself.

In this group, you will work toward:

  • Understanding what happens inside you when you’re triggered and learning to recognize your reactions as survival responses rather than personal failures.

  • Recognizing your patterns earlier so you can notice when you are moving into fight, flight, freeze, fawn, or shutdown.

  • Learning practical ways to regulate yourself when you feel overwhelmed, activated, anxious, disconnected, or numb.

  • Changing the way you respond to yourself by recognizing shame and self-criticism and practicing a more compassionate inner voice.

  • Understanding your patterns in relationships and learning to set boundaries without automatically abandoning yourself to keep the peace.

  • Reconnecting with your body, emotions, wants, and needs after years of learning to ignore or distrust them.

  • Creating more space between being triggered and reacting so that you have greater freedom to choose what you do next.

  • Building a life organized around what you want and value rather than around avoiding danger, managing other people, or simply surviving.

You will never be required to tell your trauma story or disclose more than feels right. We move gently, intentionally, and at the pace of trust.

Each participant will receive a binder with psychoeducational materials, exercises, and resources for each week of the group, so that what we learn together can continue to be practiced and used outside of the group.
